Taking note of the clash that broke out between a few Delhi Police personnel and a Sikh father-son duo in Mukherjee Nagar on June 17, 2019, the Delhi High Court has sought an interim report from the Delhi Police in the matter.

Condemning the Delhi Police’s attack on the minor son during the clash, the Court has also issued notice to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Central Government and Delhi Police in a petition seeking an independent probe into the incident.

The Court has further directed media to restrain from disclosing or revealing the identity of the minor son in any manner.

The matter was taken up by a Vacation Bench of Justices Jayant Nath and Najmi Waziri after it was mentioned for an urgent hearing earlier in the day.

The petition by advocate Dr Seema Singhal seeks to bring to notice “the barbaric, horrific and malafide use of power” by the certain Delhi police officers on June 17, 2019.
