Won’t enter India without visa: Russian woman to Gujarat High Court

Russian woman, Anastasiia Leonskaia, who is seeking a safe exit from India, and has filed a petition before the Gujarat High Court, gave an undertaking to the court on Thursday that if she is allowed to exit India, she will never return without a valid visa.

She has also agreed to give her bio-metric data to the Indian agencies and to abide by all conditions imposed by the High Court.

Notably, she is facing charges of illegal entry in India and overstaying in the country without a valid visa.

Following the submission by Leonskaia’s advocate Nachiket Dave, the counsel for the state government sought time to respond in the case. Thereafter, the court adjourned the matter for further hearing till April 1. Last week, the court had directed her to file an undertaking that she will not violate the law in future, Dave told DNA.

The 38-year-old woman, along with her infant son, have been requesting the authorities for an exit permit so that she could get back to her seven-year-old daughter Maitino Stefania in Irkutsk City. She had requested the court to let her leave India and get back to Russia as she is running the risk of losing the custody of her daughter, who might be sent to an orphanage.
