Deposit Rs.90 crore for purchasing Unitech’s land: SC to Omshakthy Agencies
The Supreme Court on Friday ordered Chennai-based Omshakty Agencies, which agreed to purchase land from Unitech, to deposit ?90 crore with the court’s registry by March 31, reports Ankit Sharma. Unitech had informed the court on January 29 that Omshakty had agreed to buy two of its land parcels for Rs 400 crore.
The apex court did not comment on a custody parole request of Unitech MDs Sanjay Chandra and Ajay Chandra, filed through their counsel Abhinav Agrawal, to enable them to arrange money to refund homebuyers and complete ongoing projects. The Chandra brothers were sent to jail in August in connection with a cheating case registered against them by flat-owners in a Gurugram project.
The court allowed Unitech to file its reply by the next hearing in relation to a January 12 application by homebuyers. The case will now be heard on March 5.
