TRANSFORMATION OF FAMILY STRUCTURE Since time immemorial the joint family has been one of the peculiar features of the Indian Society. The emergence of financially independent career oriented men and women who are confident of taking their own decisions and individual achievements greatly contributed to the disintegration of joint families. Migration of adults to cities to secure jobs or to give better education to their children or to live outside traditional life contributed to nuclear family trend. Dramatic shift of women from caring mother at home to work place participation established small modern family or nuclear family. Further instability in the lives of couples, accompanied by rapidly increasing divorce rates and destruction of the ’ nest ‘ notion of the nuclear family within the liberation of women lead to post modern family. Insight into the corporate employees and high income group couples affected personal and domestic relationships and divorce rates reveals past emergence of post modern family.

Increased women participation in the work force certainly enhanced economic growth of country. Maximized women attitude towards the development of society minimized the attitude towards the family, signifies that if women swings to the social development the traditional and real concept of Indian family stays in the literature books to read. Other way if women swings to the family the very maintenance of identity of women in the family is thousand dollars question ! to be answered by male counterpart.
