The Changing Roles Of A Women

lawzmag.comThe Indian family system has progressively confronted and combated various kinds of changes and yet India has no family policy per se so far. In this context the present paper is to focus on contemporary practices contributing for major changes in the Indian family from time to time and how the predominant family orientation changed from the Joint family to the nuclear family to the post modern family.

TRANSFORMATION OF FAMILY STRUCTURE Since time immemorial the joint family has been one of the peculiar features of the Indian Society. The emergence of financially independent career oriented men and women who are confident of taking their own decisions and individual achievements greatly contributed to the disintegration of joint families. Migration of adults to cities to secure jobs or to give better education to their children or to live outside traditional life contributed to nuclear family trend. Dramatic shift of women from caring mother at home to work place participation established small modern family or nuclear family. Further instability in the lives of couples, accompanied by rapidly increasing divorce rates and destruction of the ’ nest ‘ notion of the nuclear family within the liberation of women lead to post modern family. Insight into the corporate employees and high income group couples affected personal and domestic relationships and divorce rates reveals past emergence of post modern family.

Modern women have entered into all walks of life on par with men. Unfortunately the result is the deflection in the family

WHETHER TRANSFORMATION FETCHED RIGHTS AND POWERS TO WOMEN ON PAR WITH MALE COUNTERPARTS Globalization has led to economic changes that  have raised more social and economical challenges for women particularly for working class. Modern Technology access is affecting the younger generation to forgo traditional ways of Indian life and break gender stereo types. Modern women entered into all walks of life on par with men. Unfortunately the result is the deflection in the family proving a great magnetic law ‘ Like poles repel unlike poles attract”.

CONCLUSION

Relationship between work and life is different for women than for men. Noticeable changes have taken place in the role of women to come out of rusted cultural chains and to enter into workplace. Increased women participation in the work force certainly enhanced economic growth of country. Maximized women attitude towards the development of society minimized the attitude towards the family, signifies that if women  swings to the social development the traditional and real concept of Indian family stays in the literature books to read. Other way if women swings to the family the very maintenance of identity of women in the family is thousand dollars question ! to be answered by male counterpart. It is unimaginable to balance the two at a time for women. Future of the Institution of the family depend on the considerable role of women how best she can balance these two.
